PreSchool to 3rd Grade Tutor helping students build confidence in all subjects, especially reading and writing. 6 years as a Kindergarten and 1st grade teacher working in charter and public schools in California and New York. Extensive experience teaching children how to read and write. I have learned ways to help children cultivate a love of reading and writing while building their new skills. Most of my Kindergarten students entered the year knowing a few letters and sounds and left my class reading at a 1st grade reading level. 5 years spent working with English as a Second Language (ESL) students. These experiences helped me to gain a lot of oral-language and vocabulary development strategies. I love being a tutor, because I am able to give my undivided attention to my students without the distraction that a classroom full of children brings. I also have much more flexibility to meet the needs of my students when I am tutoring.
