I am a tutor from Oakland, California who earned a bachelor's degree in English from UC Berkeley. With a great love for learning, I especially enjoy tutoring reading, grammar and mechanics, math, and writing. When tutoring on the mechanics of writing, my main emphasis is on teaching students how to properly use grammar, structure sentences, and construct a concrete thesis. In high school, I was the valedictorian of my graduating class. After graduation, I entered the University of California at Berkeley, where I tutored fellow students through the Athletic Study Center. My duties entailed tutoring members of the athletic teams in a variety of subjects, including different math topics, statistics, philosophy, and psychology. I was also a peer advisor for new or incoming students who were athletes. Additionally, while at UC Berkeley, I was part of the track and field and rowing teams. As an athlete at this school, I earned a varsity letter, was an NCAA champion, and also was named to the All-Academic First Team. Additionally, I was a member of the school's symphony orchestra, where I played the bass. After graduating from UC Berkeley, I began working with students in sixth through eighth grades at St. Paul's School. At the school, I work on a project that involves the creation of educational profiles to assist the tutoring system. In my spare time, some of the things that I like to do include baking, weight training, and water surfing.
