I've spent the last 10 years tutoring at various levels from 6th grade to university. I have most experience as a writing / English language arts tutor, but I also spent a few years tutoring logic and other philosophy topics. As a high school student I was often dissatisfied with my education, which prompted me to finish in only three years, graduating valedictorian. I think that learning is one of the most exciting pursuits, and it is unfortunate when subject matter is presented to students in ways that fail to underscore that excitement. Kids need to be stimulated and encouraged, shown a passion for the subject that they are learning. I think that this is something that can often fall the wayside in a classroom setting. This is what makes tutoring such a wonderful option, and such a pleasure as the tutor. Tailoring academics to students' specific needs and being able to translate those things that are most engaging for the individual is an extremely rewarding experience. A teacher can often make all the difference in a student's love of the subject, and it is always my goal to communicate those aspects of learning that are absolutely lovable.
