The most important thing to me as a tutor is discovering what excites and interests each student so that they can experience a fun, engaging, and tailor-made study experience that optimizes their learning and success. It is not my goal to simply teach students how to memorize information. I want to help them learn skills and ideas that they can use in other subjects as well as in life. I understand the importance of sharing ideas through writing, so it is a focus of mine to help students cultivate a unique voice in their writing as well as the ability to put their thoughts into words.With combined bachelor's and master's degrees in Ecology/Evolution and general Biology from Stanford, I am well equipped to tutor in the sciences. Still, my favorite courses to work with are in the humanities. I also love anything that offers the opportunity to combine writing with science. Some subjects I tutor in include public speaking, test-prep, essay composition, research methods, marine biology, and ecology. I have experience in the sciences as the captain of the Stanford-Brown IGEM team. I have also worked as a synthetic biologist and teaching assistant at NASA Ames. In my free time, I like to hike, play soccer, and go bouldering. When it is sunny, I enjoy exploring marine life in Puget Sound.
