Experience
I'm currently an Oakland based fine artist working in acrylics and watercolor on salvaged materials and canvas. I have an extensive background in youth development working with all ages in formal and informal settings-- mostly in after school programs and summer camps. After I graduated college, I spent two years living abroad in the Peace Corps and it was there I really fell in love with teaching art. I ran a series of art camps for my students in high school and middle school where I learned how to develop curriculum, break down techniques, and really help every kind of learner understand concepts. My favorite part of tutoring is celebrating when a student nails a technique they are trying to achieve. Currently, I live in Oakland and am embarking on a new professional path as an established artist. I'm excited at the prospect of tutoring and feel that my background in youth development, instruction, curriculum development, and people skills continue to make me an effective tutor. My specializations include portraiture, figure drawing, watercolor techniques, and various styles using acrylics. My personal art is highly influenced by urban and street art, and I am deeply inspired by a wide variety of muralists in the urban contemporary art scene today.

I'm a camp counselor at heart, love to play games, tell riddles and jokes, and infuse creativity into as many things as possible! I try to be outside more than I am inside most days and love exploring all the great things the Bay Area has to offer. I am continually thinking about the next place I will travel, the next artwork I will create, and the next concert I need to see. I'm 28, single, live near Lake Merritt, and have an awesome roommate. I have a studio space in East Oakland, where I dedicate many hours to my personal practice. I love the friends I have out here and the arts community has been so amazing thus far! I'd love to meet more aspiring artists and help you or your student hone technical skills or conceptualize where you want your art to go.
