EducationFlorida State University - BA and BS, English Literature/International Affairs
ExperienceI tutor students in math, history, and literature, but am pursuing the opportunity to assist with writing, reading comprehension, and literature-based exam prep. I teach math from upper elementary through high school, when preparation for the SAT is critical. My experience with curriculum development, providing feedback to students, and preparing them for exams makes me a great tutor. As for me, I graduated Florida State University in 2012, summa cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. I also obtained a Bachelor of Science in International Affairs. Next I was accepted into Teach for America and worked in high-need schools in New Orleans. At a local alternative school, I taught math to 6-12th graders affected by emotional and behavioral issues. In a public high school, I taught 9-12th grade algebra, where 33% more students scored in the highest two categories than the year before on the Algebra I End of Course Assessment. In my teaching certification program, I scored high, and also worked as an Academic Interventionist with 4-7th graders. They needed help in reading, math, and ESL.When I am not tutoring or focusing on my career, I like to read, practice yoga, attend live music shows, and spend time outdoors.
