Education
BA Mathematics, UC Berkeley PhD Nuclear Engineering & Computational Science, UC Berkeley I graduated in 2015 with my bachelor's in mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley. This fall I am returning to Berkeley to begin my PhD in Nuclear Engineering and Computational Science. My research is in the development of algorithms for the modeling of nuclear reactors with particular interest in supercomputing and combines knowledge from mathematics, physics, and computer science.
Experience
I have long been passionate about mathematics education, having taught all ages from 4 to 65+. Some of my career highlights include coaching the middle school math team at Bowman International School in Palo Alto, teaching ESL, math, and science with the Ponheary Ly Foundation in Siem Reap, Cambodia, and mentoring undergraduate students in science and engineering at UC Berkeley. In that time, I have seen that not all minds approach mathematics in the same way. I will work with your student to develop method of problem solving that incorporates their natural intuition and gives them a fundamental understanding of mathematics beyond rote memorization.
