I earned my B.A from Stanford University in Linguistics with honors. Subsequently, I received my Bilingual CA Teaching Credential at UC Berkeley, and currently I am a Master’s Candidate in Educational Therapy at Holy Names University. I also hold a license in Stress-relief and ADHD/Anxiety intervention from the Institute of HeartMath in Boulder Creek, California. I am trained in Critical Reading and Writing from Columbia Teachers College Reading and Writing Workshop. My Dyslexia/Orton-Gillingham studies comes from the Reading and Language Arts Center (RLAC, Soon to be Brainspring) in Michigan. RLAC is accredited by the International Dyslexia Association and holds the rigorous accreditation from the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council. In addition, I hold a certificate for working with Gifted and Talented Education Students. I believe in the power of a growth-mindset and the research that shows that intelligence is not fixed. I am a former 20-year, CA Bilingual Credentialed Teacher who has tutored and coached students throughout the East Bay for the last 10 years and who was recognized by the Berkeley Public Education Fund as Distinguished Educator of the Year in 2010 for work in literacy in the area.
