Education
I graduated in August 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts from UC Santa Cruz, with a double major in Film & Digital Media (Critical Film Studies) and World Literature & Cultural Studies. My cumulative GPA upon graduation was 3.7. I also graduated with Honors in Film & Digital Media, with a senior thesis in the major.
Experience
I approach being a writing tutor with the experience I have from working as an editor for my undergraduate film criticism journal at UCSC. The journal publishes high-caliber film and pop culture criticism, bringing scholarship and research together with argumentative and approachable writing styles. As Editor in Chief, I worked closely with every writer to perfect their ideas and their writing before publication. I held frequent one-on-one meetings with each writer, worked with multiple drafts, and gave them my undivided attention. I have also worked on multiple literary magazines throughout high school and college, and would be happy to provide not only help with analytical writing and assignments but any and all kinds of writing. While being an editor and being a tutor are very different things, I believe that the desire to help each individual writer to develop and strengthen their voice and arguments is a constant in both of these positions. I chose World Literature & Cultural Studies as my concentration in the Literature major at UC Santa Cruz, where I took many literature and theory classes, and did very well in all of them. I also had a double major in Film & Digital Media, where I chose a concentration in Critical Film Studies - I like to joke that all I did in my four years at UC Santa Cruz was read film theory and works of literature, and write 10 page papers! I also wrote a senior thesis in Film on Chinese American actress Anna May Wong and social media, which I won an award on from the Arts Division at UC Santa Cruz. Related Qualifications: - up to 3 months tutoring experience (12 hrs/week) with student with severe OCD and ADHD - 2015-2016 Dean's Undergraduate Award Recipient (Dean of the Arts Division, UCSC) - I received a Dean’s Undergraduate Award from the Arts Division at UCSC for my senior thesis. - Presenter at the Society for Media and Cultural Studies Undergraduate Conference (One of 30 nationwide applicants selected to present a section of my senior thesis at the SMCS Undergraduate Conference, hosted by the University of Colorado, Boulder. The section presented was entitled “The GIF as a Tool of Re-reading, Resistance, and Re-Narrativizing in Social Media Spaces.”

Hobbies
I read a lot in my spare time (political theory, film history, and critical race theory), but I also enjoy knitting, baking, and playing with my two dogs. I also work part time at a literary journal, which is where I get most of my fiction and poetry recommendations. I'm interested in issues of social justice, and I can talk for hours about how much I love Harry Potter.
