I graduated from Pomona College in 2012 with a B.A. in Politics. Since college, I have worked as an instructional assistant in both public and private schools. In this role, I have tutored students in Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Social Studies, English, Writing, Biology, and U.S. Government. Among these subjects, I most enjoy helping students with course material relating to mathematics and politics. I find these subjects the most stimulating mentally, in that I am challenged to think both critically and creatively. My goal is not simply to assist students in learning the material presented, but to aid in the development of critical thinking skills. My approach to teaching reflects my belief that identifying the correct answer is not the ultimate goal. When I have done my job well, the student will have an understanding of the underlying concepts that allows him to apply what he's learned in new and different contexts. When I'm not teaching or tutoring, I like to read and to run.
